Marquee or Venue: How To Choose?
Congratulations on your engagement. Now, the next most important thing is creating a wedding day you will never forget.
One of the biggest questions a newly engaged couple face is where to hold your wedding.
You might feel pressured to make the right choice ahead of time… but can there really ever be the perfect venue?
The time of year, location, budget and having enough room for the number of guests you want to invite are just some things that play an important factor. From sophisticated venues to a small backyard the choices seem never-ending and it will no doubt send your head spinning.
One big thing to remember is you can’t move a venue, you can’t change the interior or the surroundings and you certainly can’t change the size.
When it comes to choosing a marquee for your special day you are guaranteed to have the flexibility in terms of size, style, amount of guests and more importantly the LOCATION!
From a small intimate family wedding in your own backyard to a marquee within a beautiful backdrop of our stunning Sydney harbour or open fields of the country, the options are limitless.
At Walkers Party Hire, we have years of expertise to offer you to help take the stress of organising marquee hire for the big day. Our range of different size wedding hire marquees, flooring and furniture range means we have everything on hand to help build that dream venue for you and an everlasting memory.
Here is our handy top 3 list you need to consider when choosing your wedding marquee:
1. To Sit Or Not To Sit
One of the first questions to answer is how many guests and will they sit or stand. A formal dining arrangement is the traditional setting with the bridal table front and centre with the guests at round or rectangle tables spread throughout the marquee. Casual cocktail weddings allow free-flowing guests with dry bar tables for canapes and cocktails.
When choosing the seating option you will need to allow for more space per guest. An example is a formal roundtable arrangements of 10 seats requires a minimum of 3m x 3m space (9m2). Don’t forget the bridal table.
The less formal cocktail wedding setting requires much less space and in most cases, 10 guests will only require a space of 2m x 2m (4m2)
2. Size Matters
There are many benefits to hiring a wedding marquee-most notably the flexibility in size. Larger clear span marquees can be used on their own or can work effectively alongside smaller marquees to add a room for a bar or perhaps to separate catering staff from wedding guests.
Wedding marquees also offer a ‘blank canvas’ when it comes to interior design, and we have worked with many different design concepts over the years.
We can easily add style and character to the marquees and work with any ideas you might have. Our range of flooring and stylish furniture will also help add to the overall design of the marquee as well as being functional when it comes to creating a dance floor.
3. Location, Location, Location.
At Walkers Party Hire we work across NSW. Over the years we have installed marquees at the Botanical Gardens, Centennial Park, country NSW and even on the deck of a cruise ship. From transforming your backyard to creating a private space on the harbour our marquees can be installed anywhere.
Using your own backyard allows extra time to decorate and enjoy the party. Each wedding hire is over the weekend with most installations on Thursday and removal the following Monday – that’s even enough time to have a recovery party!
Another option is your favourite park, garden or building. Use the grounds to install our wedding marquee and the location becomes the backdrop to your wedding.
